 Staff Advisory Council Minutes

Thursday, May 12, 2011  1:00 p.m.

LaFortune Student Center

I.   Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. by Patty Smith.    

Approval of April 2011 Council Minutes

Minutes were approved with minor revisions - motion by James Stevens and 2nd by Diana Singleton.

 

II.  Committee Updates

 

Benefits Committee

There is a meeting scheduled for May 27.  Diana met with Denise Murphy as the SAC benefits representative.

 

Parking Appeals

There have been 2 meetings and 85 citations were reviewed.

 

Ad Hoc Parking

One meeting was held where the committee discussed reserved parking signage. 

The topic of gating the D-6 lot was also discussed.  This action was deemed too expensive to pursue.   SAC will follow up with Jeff Korros to discuss next steps in solving the D-6 parking issue for staff.

 

Promotions Committee

$154 dollars was raised for Relay for Life during Hacienda Night.

 

Operation Quiet Comfort is complete.

 

Webpage Committee

Some minor revisions to the website are being worked on.

 

ECDC

A meeting was held on April 18. There is a family information web site being developed

that will provide information on day care, after school care, etc.  It will go live in September.  The committee will tour ND and SMC facilities on May 13.  High chairs will be added to many campus eateries.

 

Compassion Fund

No news

 

III.   New Business

Congratulations to Tammy Springer, Char Koblick and Diana Singleton who earned their Associates degree through the ND/Ivy Tech Learning at Work Program.

 

Matthew Blazejewski, HR Consultant for OIT, OPAC & University Relations, was the guest speaker.  Matthew explained his background, experience and education to SAC members.  He talked about his role and philosophy in approaching his work with managers and employees.  Matthew then answered questions from the group about his role and various work place topics. 

It was announced that Development ended a seven year campaign that resulted in raising 2 billion dollars.

The October SAC meeting will be held in the lower level of Grace Hall.
