Staff Advisory Council Minutes

Thursday, December 6, 2012 1:00 p.m.

LaFortune Student Center

I.                Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. by Patty Smith. 

 

November minutes were reviewed –Char Koblick made a motion to approve with a second by Kathy Troth.

II.            Committee Updates and description of assignment for new members:

Benefits Committee
Nothing to report

Parking Appeals
Nothing to report.  There is not enough people on the committee to hold a meeting.

Ad Hoc Parking  
Nothing to report

Promotions Committee
SAC is moving forward with the book drive plans.  El Campito and the Robinson Center are interested in participating.  Books for children age 2-5 are needed.  The group discussed where to place the bins on campus and the timeframe for the collection.

It was shared during the meeting that St Michael’s Laundry has partnered with the Center for Homeless for clothing items.  The laundry will clean, mend and deliver the items that are dropped off.

Elections Committee
Nomination forms went out the first week in December and are due 12/14/12.  Elections are being held for the odd numbered districts.  A discussion was held regarding the campus distribution of nomination forms and making sure that employees received them.  It was reported that nominations have been received for all open districts, with the exception of 23.

Webpage Committee

Still need to post the Nov, 2011 and Oct/Nov 2012 minutes on the site.

 

ECDC
Nothing to report.

Compassion Fund
One request was approved.

 

III.           New Business

                There was a discussion on family sick time and clarification on FMLA and use of sick time. 

                There was a discussion regarding bikes and skateboards on campus and safety issues.

Patty Smith reported that NDSP contacted her to discuss the gate officers and how they are serving the ND community.

A request was made for a speed bump at the north end of St Michael’s Laundry parking lot.

IV.          Additional Business

               

It was announced that starting on December 17, there will not be handicap access to LaFortune for 2 weeks due to some work being done.
