Staff Advisory Council Minutes

I.                Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 1:03 p.m. by Patty Smith

 

May minutes were reviewed and approved –motion by Kathy Seymour with a 2nd by La Minda Wilson

 

II.            Committee Updates

Benefits Committee
Had first meeting, nothing to report at this time.

Parking Appeals
Nothing to report

Ad Hoc Parking  
Nothing to report

Promotions Committee
Nothing to report

Compassion Fund
1 request was made and approved

Webpage Committee

There was a question about the minutes and where they were hosted on the site.  There is an ongoing issue of disabling the old SAC site.

III.           New Business

Doug Marsh, University Architect, was the guest speaker.  Doug reviewed the  15 construction projects taking place on campus now through the winter 2012.  The projects include a sculpture park, Irish Green Playground, several roof projects, Wellness Center, Morris Inn, parking lots, Hesburgh Library, Stayer Center, a design workshop, Lewis Hall and the Radiation Lab.  Doug also spoke about the routine maintenance work taking place such as repairing sidewalks, restriping parking lines, resurfacing roads, etc.

Doug then took several questions regarding his presentation including thoughts about the recent purchase of St Joseph High School and use of the D-6 parking lot.  Staff can view additional information on www.architect.nd.edu

 

IV.          Old Business

A question was raised last month about the disposal of medications found by the custodial staff when they are doing dorm clean up. Can the University provide a place to dispose of medications?   Patty Smith raised this with Denise Murphy who will review the question with the Heath Center.

 

 V.           Additional Business

 July meeting will be held in ECK Law Building, Room 2171

Positive comments were voiced about the ND staff picnic which was held on June 6.
