I. Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 1:07 p.m. by Kathy Stopczynski.

II. Approval of the November 9th, 2006 Council Minutes

With noted changes, Joy Schosker made a motion to approve and Jennifer Ihns seconded.

III. Committee Reports

Parking Appeals Committee
This committee meets approximately once per month.  The schedule of meetings slowed down during the end of the semester.  Kevin Jones is also a member of the Ad Hoc Parking Committee.

Promotions Committee
Christmas Cards are not in the budget (too expensive).

Website Committee
Website has been recently revised by Christy Miller.

Benefits Committee
No update.

Childcare Committee
No news.  The committee is waiting for survey results.

Redistricting Committee
A proposal has been drafted and reviewed by SAC.   A motion to accept the changes was made by Christy and seconded by Sharon.  Peggy will oversee District 30 until it has someone to represent it.  We will put this out for election even though it is an even district since it is vacant.  Election committee is Peggy, John and Sharon.

Elections Committee
Elections will be held after the January meeting.  New members will be seated at the February meeting.

IV. Additional Business

Letters to Security regarding golf carts on campus
Jeff Korros responded to a letter from SAC that expressed concern about unsafe usage of golf carts on campus.  Risk management oversees the use of golf carts and utility vehicles.  NDSP does respond to complaints.  Students are reported to Student Affairs.  Carts used on campus must be numbered (exception if short-term rental).  Drivers are required to be certified to drive golf carts on campus.  Staff members are encouraged to report any unsafe driving as soon as possible by calling the NDSP.

Doug Marsh letter regarding cross walk at Juniper and Holy Cross
In response, they closed the parking lot on Juniper to through traffic.  They then made the cross walk more noticeable.  SAC members indicated that they noticed these changes but still feel that there are issues.  A follow-up letter will be sent thanking them but sharing the ongoing concerns about pedestrian danger due to auto speed.

Jury duty payments
A question was raised about payments made to employees when they appear for jury duty.  It was explained by HR that these payments must be submitted to Notre Dame to help offset the salary that is paid by the university.

Employee survey
There has been a 65% return rate.

V. Adjournment

With no further topics to discuss, Jennifer Ihns made a motion to adjourn.  The motion was seconded by Patricia Smith and passed.  The meeting adjourned at 2:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
