II.Committee Updates

Benefits Committee

Meeting last week and that is all to report

Parking Appeals/Parking

Only 4 appeals this month rather than the usual 70.  All were denied.  Appeals never seem to get overturned.  What is a valid reason?  Discussion around what is a reason.  A number of people provided Joe with examples.

Promotions Committee

With the assistance from area Catholic elementary schools and High schools, the jeans squares were all completed.

They are all in and will get them to Plymouth by Thanksgiving.  Want to see if they can have the quilt done by individual school and take it back to the school for pictures.

Webpage Committee

The page is being worked on.  Spreadsheet could not be viewable to all, but has been fixed.

ECDC

Nothing to report

Compassion Fund

One request was granted to an employee for $321.

A question was raised if someone was denied earlier because there was no funding in the account could they be paid when funding is available?    Marie will ask the committee about that.

Election:

Odd number districts and any currently vacant are up.  Need to look at redistricting.  Rearranged everyone based on campus locations.

Building Services left as 17 and 18 since spread all over campus.  Essentially regional like the Athletics example.

Not many changes, but most were people who moved like Development into Eddy Street Commons.

Reopened district 10.

Takes effect January 1, 2011 after voted in by the group.  Focused more on the location of the building they work in. Need to find out who is in Reyneiers building and where it should go.

A discussion was had on how to communicate with different constituents if they do not have computers.  .

Adjustment made to a few phone numbers on the document.

Took away department names and just included the building.

Motion to approve.  Adele Almaguer approves 2nd by Kathy Troth.

Elections Committee:

A review of some key information.

You can only self nominate.  If there is only one nominee then that person becomes the representative.   If more than one nominee, then there is a runoff.  Person with the most votes wins.

The committee then contacts the supervisor to see if it is okay for person to be away from office for meeting commitment.

The goal is to try and send out election information at the beginning of December.  February is the first meeting of the new session.

A discussion was had about sending out paper copies.  What about sending ballots via email to computer using districts.  Only got 10 nominations for 2500 pieces of paper sent last time.  Kathy said paper was wasted and it took a lot of time for both Kathy and mail distribution.

A question was asked if you can be a part time employee and on SAC?

III.Old Business

Team Irish celebration this weekend.  Congratulations!

IV.New Business

There were questions regarding the occurrence policy, funeral leave, and sick time and if anything is changing in January.

Denise Murphy, Director of Benefits and Compensation will be at the December meeting as a follow up to the October meeting.

There was a discussion regarding the way policies are applied consistently across campus.  The discussion included the differences between the hourly vs. salaried policies.

A question was asked if salaried employees will ever clock in.

A statement was made that there needs to be consistency in the departments

Food Drive:  Someone is checking the buildings and then empties the barrel as it fills up.

A suggestion that speed bumps be placed in front of St. Michael’s Laundry to slow people down.

Questions and answers regarding NDVoice survey confidentiality

Will they continue free skate in the new hockey arena?

How are raises are determined?  Everyone received the same raise in Food Services?

A lot of problems with D6 parking.

V.Adjournment

Motion to adjourn at 2:55 by Kathy Seymour and 2nd by Penny McIntire.
