I.Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 1:02 p.m. by Patty Smith. 

 

Approval of September 2010 Council Minutes

Minutes were approved - motion by Diana Singleton and 2nd by Penny McIntyre

 

II.Committee Updates

Denise Murphy is scheduled for this meeting.

Promotions Committee

With the assistance from area Catholic elementary and high schools the jeans squares are all signed!

2300 squares were signed and the project was a huge success.  SAC discussed the idea of continuing the project for next year.

Webpage Committee

 

            The Team Irish photo of SAC and announcement of the award was posted to the site.

 

Compassion Fund

One request was granted to an employee for $200.  There is a small amount of funds available in the fund since money is transferred from United Way donations on a quarterly basis.  Kathy Troth was recognized for her involvement with the article in ND Works on the fund.

 

III.Old Business

·         Patty passed around information and sign up sheets for the November 13 Team Irish Award recognition.

·         SAC will be involved in the Harvest Food Drive which is a campus event.  Jody attended meeting to learn more about the process.

 

IV.New Business

Denise Murphy, Director of Compensation & Benefits, attended SAC.  Denise outlined some information regarding the upcoming Open Enrollment period.  Denise explained the Wellness Initiatives, changes due to Health Care Reform, and reviewed the premium costs and changes for 2010.  Denise mentioned that the new Heath Advocate benefit has been used by 400 employees and family members in 2 months.  She announced Your Pension Resources “YPR”, an interactive web site for employees to view information about their retirement earnings.

 

John Affleck Graves, Executive Vice President, attended SAC to speak to members and answer questions.  Dr. Affleck Graves congratulated the group on receiving the Team Irish Award.  He then presented some opening comments about the Healthy Campus Initiatives and gave some campus building updates.   He then opened the floor to SAC members to ask questions.  The discussion revolved around several issues including campus safety, 360 degree feedback evaluations, spousal career services, job coaching, merit increases, the campus smoking policy and recycling.

 

A question was raised about the funeral leave policy and consistency of implementation.  Representatives from Human Resources took note of the issue and will review the policy and how it is carried out on campus.

 

The following SAC members will comprise the elections committee:

Jody Klontz, Marie Revak, Shari Herman, Char Koblick and Patty Smith.
