Interim Parking Committee

Discussed construction projects, 2/3 Hesburgh Library lot is under construction. Possibly 2 shuttle bus loops – North and South loop.

III. New Business

Les Niedbalski, Parking Services was the guest speaker. He stated that they are compiling data about shuttle buses for possibly the 3 pm, 5 pm and 10 pm shifts.  He also mentioned North and South loop shuttle busses – possibly 7 am – 9am, 11:30 am – 1 pm and 4 pm – 7 pm.

Les took a question about Building Services having to run into a building and clean a flood or other problems that need immediate attention and having nowhere to park near the building. He suggested possibly a special decal so they won’t be ticketed. Possibly a special permit – Service/Maintenance? There was a comment about night workers and safety walking across campus.  Les discussed Safe Walk, call 631-5555 to be escorted if concerned about safety.

Comment that Bulla lot parking spaces are smaller and there have been dent issues with cars. Les stated that he will look into this issue.

There was a question for Les about parking tickets.  Some employees have so many tickets that they are trying to pay off in order to get a new parking pass for this year. Parking Services are willing to set up a payment plan and give a temporary permit every two weeks (to allow for paydays) until tickets are paid off.  There is no minimum amount before they will do a payment plan.

Les stated that he would be willing to work with SAC to do a possible promotion to help reduce fines, whether it is a food drive, etc.

IV. Additional Business

Fighting Irish Fighting Hunger Food Drive starts September 6th - Robyn Karkiewicz will represent the SAC.

Reminder about SAC Member duties – please read over duties, if you need to miss a meeting, inform Tami.

Comment about Wellness Center giving away Fitbit – need to work with Wellness Coaches –Cindy/Maureen to receive this.

Comment that the current agenda format doesn’t work well with google.

Comment about alcoholism rehab not being covered by insurance. Why not?  Also, there are no centers in Indiana that cater to 18–24 year olds with alcohol related issues.

V. Adjournment

Motion to adjourn at 2:45 pm. 1st Robyn Karkiewicz K. 2nd Char-Anna Koblick.
